She completed her BA degree in Sociology at Marmara University and received her MSc and DPhil degrees (both at the Department of Sociology) from University of Oxford. Her doctoral research investigated highly educated women’s underrepresentation in top-ranked, male-dominated occupations, and the problematic vicious circle created by the combination of unbalanced domestic division of labour at the micro level, prejudiced employer behaviour at the meso level and the lack of adequate supporting social policies for women as employees/employers and men as husbands/fathers at the macro level. Her main research interests are women’s career trajectories in different areas of the labour market, reconciliation of family and paid work with an emphasis on related social policies, and individuals’ happiness/life satisfaction levels exclusively based on employment.
