Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı was a founding member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences and is presently a member of the Science Academy. She was amongst the founders of AÇEV, Mother Child Education Foundation. She was the first female president of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology and the Vice President International Social Science Council and International Union of Psychological Science.She received the “Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award” from American Psychological Association (1993), International Association of Applied Psychology (1998), and European Association of Developmental Psychology (2007). Her areas of research included human development, education, women and family in a socio-cultural context. She published 33 books and 222 articles.
