The first ‘Human Development Research Award’ given by Professor Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı at UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Sustainable Development, Koc University have been presented to the prize winners. The award which aims to reinforce applied research projects and scientific works that shed light on applied research that support human well-being, was presented to Dr. Şebnem Özdemir (Istanbul University) for her research titled “ANKA (ACDT-Analytical Casual Decision Tree)” and Assistant Professor Miraç Burak Gönültaş (Sivas, Cumhuriyet University) for his research titled “Approaches in the Abduction Cases Targeting Sexual Child Abuse and Enabling the Criminal Investigation”. The award ceremony took place on 26th of December, 2016 at Koc-Pera, Istanbul.
UNESCO Chair In Gender Equality and Sustainable Development has been established at Koç University in the name of Prof. Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı, KOÇ-KAM Director and professor of psychology at Koç University. Opening ceremony for the UNESCO Chair took place on May 30, 2016 at Koç Pera. The ceremony was followed by “Kadın Odaklı” book launch, II. KOÇ-KAM Research Grants Symposium and 2015-16 KOÇ-KAM Research Grants.
Koç University, KOÇ-KAM, Semahat Arsel Distinguished Honorary Fellow Award, is a recognition award to the respectable personas who have made significant contribution to the studies on topics of gender and problems of women.
The 1st of this award was presented to Irina Bokova UNESCO Director-General on 7th January, 2015 with a reception at Divan Hotel Taksim.
